Seems nothing has changed since my last post. CNN IBN repeatedly telecasts the news of a snake found in CWG village. Gosh!!! - when you TV guys heard about it, why don't go and clean up the mess? (guess everyone got scared of their life on the very mention of a snake)
OK - another action could have been - Call up all snake charmers in Delhi and let them do a spot check on the village to see if any more snakes are hiding.
Akhilesh - An Indian Boxer discovered that his bed was broken due to missing plywood. And the media folks got another spicey news to feed on. Too bad Akhilesh, when you are representing our country - please bear with the CWG organizers. We all know the corrupt folks aroung CWG, but lets keep it aside for now and understand that the reputation of the country is at stake
It is heartening to see my fellow Indians creating awareness that the games be held in right spirit and the criticism be done away with. Hope it materialises
Today I watched Doordarshan for five minutes and the correspondent neatly explained the steps taken by Delhi Govt and Traffic Police to ensure the CWG are a smooth affair for everyone. It all looked so positive and reminded me of the old DD days - lefe was so simple then
To all those private news channels and Print Media - When will you publish pictures of our stadia that the CWG bosses recently claimed as World Class? Let the games take over and just SHUT UP!!! Still waiting to see the CWG itinerary in "The Times of India" - my daily dosage of newspaper

CWG and Media
Well it was not long ago that a kid named "Prince" fell into a well near Kurukshetra while playing AND then...
The media went crazy - The kid was rescued after 50 hours or so and TV channels were doing live coverage of such an "unimportant" event. That was then and seems nothing has changed for the better, as far as the role of media is concerned. Spicy, hot, chirpy news keep flowing All around us. The wealth of TV channels has not helped the cause either. And a news paper publishes the news of a rape or molestation on front page while a martyr protecting our vast borders gets lost somewhere in the middle (sometimes nowhere)
Commonwealth Games are round the corner AND the role of media is as disgusting as ever
It hurts me to the hell to see media portraying the image of my country in such poor shape. Agreed the management of the games is not as efficient as it should be, but carrying out headlines such as:
"CWG Disaster" - when a bridge collapsed outside the venue
"National Shame" - when a portion of false ceiling broke that was in no-man's land
adds fuel to the fire.
The effects can be seen all around - England says they will take a final call in the coming days, many countries have expressed reservations about sending their squads and so on
I am an Indian and would like to do all it takes to ensure that we have a smooth and successful CWG.
To the entire section of Media - Please shut-up. This leads us to nowhere. If you are so concerned about CWG issues, why not work to sort them out? Here are some tips:
- Take up brooms and clean-up the venues, Games Village
- Talk to our esteemed guests (athletes) and give them assurance that "All is Well"
- Acts as brand ambassadors of our country and be united
- If you can't do this, just don't tarnish our reputation
Take a leaf of China, who hosted the Olympics with stupendous success.
I know we can, I know we will.
